SUPPORT OUR WAR LEGACY BOOK

OCTOBER 7 WAR | IRON SWORDS | NORTHERN ARROWS | GIDEON'S CHARRIOTS

On October 7th, 2023, we all left our personal lives, our careers, our families - and answered the call for duty, to serve our country, amid the worst attack on the people of Israel since the Holocaust.

The October 7 War is a dramatic +2-years ongoing event, which has a overwhelming effect on the lives of our serving soldiers and commanders, their families, and our unit's life-long legacy and story.

Our battalion took an active part on several fronts during the war - from Gaza to Lebanon, from the Golan Heights to Judaea and Samaria, and beyond. Our work has had a great impact, and we also paid a heavy price.

For these reasons, we are producing a legacy war book, both digital and printed, which will tell our story in text and photos, for next generations and general public.

This is where we seek help.

Below please find English information about our unit, as well as links to additional relevant material.

For this reason, our honor and pride belongs to them as well. We invest in social events, bonding, relationships and our friendship beyond just in times of service since 6646 is not just a leading IDF reserve unit it's also a family, for life.

HISTORY

The 6646 Reconnaissance Battalion is part of the 646 Brigade, which was founded in 1974 on the basis of the 48 Battalion (which fought in the 1973 Yom Kippur War in Egypt - Ismailiyah and the Canal areas), and is fed from the IDF Paratroopers Brigade. The Brigade's veteran special force platoons - Sayeret (פלס"ר), Orev (עורב), Palchan (פלחה"ן) and others - fought together with the entire 646 Brigade in Lebanon, West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. In the early 2000's, the special force platoons were unified under one reconnaissance battalion - 6646. Our first mission as one unit was in Nahal Oz, near the Gaza Strip, in 2004. Since then we have completed many missions in Gaza, Lebanon, West Bank, and more.
